Tropicana & the HFMA
Published: 17/09/2018 10:11
Tropicana is a long-standing member of the HFMA (the Health Food Manufacturers’ Association). The HFMA was established in 1965 to represent the interests of manufacturers and suppliers of specialist health products in the UK. With 120 member companies, the HFMA works effectively at all levels of the legislative, regulatory and Parliamentary process, and works proactively with other industry associations. As a member, Tropicana observes HFMA codes of practice on things like GMP (Good Manufacturing Processes), Labelling & Advertising and safe dosage levels for supplements. Tropicana has had discussions with MPs in the Houses of Parliament regarding sports and other supplements at HFMA events, helping shape legislation in our industry and promoting the benefits of natural products to political and regulatory decision-makers.
One of the major topics of discussion recently, which could have a substantial impact on everyone who makes and sells supplements, has been how to best navigate Brexit so as to obtain a number of potential benefits to allow our industry to be more innovative and competitive going forward. Tropicana will continue to support the HFMA in its excellent work in shaping legislation to not only avoid harm to our industry but also to take advantage of potential opportunities. We would encourage companies to look into HFMA membership to help support our industry.
